Marcus Williams Jr. ran for two touchdowns in the first quarter, including a 42-yard dash to make it 14-0, and Louisiana Tech dashed to a 24-point first-half lead and made it stand up for a 24-17 win over North Texas in the Bulldogs' Conference USA opener Saturday. J.D. He is the first Bulldog to record two interceptions in a game since the last time he accomplished the feat, which was last season against UAB on Oct. 31. Williamson became the seventh Bulldog in the last 23 games to record a pick-six, which was the 15th pick-six for Louisiana Tech since 2017, which leads the nation. Williamson's 45-yard interception returned for a touchdown in the first quarter opened the game's scoring.   Austin Kendall threw for a touchdowns and rushed for another, Greg Garner scored three times and Louisiana Tech edged Southeastern Louisiana 45-42 on Saturday night. However, it took a fumble recovery by Cedric Woods in the final minute to secure the win. Southeast Louisiana quarterback Cole Kelley ran for 16 yards on third-and-10 from his 19 but was stripped by Ezekiel Barnett, although the first down would have been nullified by a penalty.

Garner had back-to-back touchdowns in the third quarter to give the Bulldogs (1-1) 10-point leads in the shootout. The first came when Kendall threw a backwards pass to wide receiver Kyle Maxwell, who threw the ball into the end zone, where Garner hauled it in while being hit. Garner got his second rushing touchdown after the second of Kelley's three TD passes. Kelley was 44 of 59 for 453 yards with two interceptions and scored twice on the ground while leading the Lions (1-1) in rushing with 42 yards. CJ Turner had eight catches for 131 yards. The Lions had 556 total yards but 10 penalties cost them 100 yards and they had three turnovers. Kendall was 20 of 28 for 250 yards. - Louisiana Tech/AP College Football

Arizona's starting cornerbacks this year will most likely be returning star Christian Roland-Wallace and Notre Dame transfer Isaiah Rutherford, who was one of 13 players Fisch and Co. scooped from the transfer portal. The reserve scholarship cornerbacks? Junior McKenzie Barnes and redshirt Malik Hausman, walk-on Treydan Stukes - and Morgan, an incoming freshman.

Barnes had a promising start to his Arizona career, playing in nine games as a freshman, but his productivity on the field has tapered since the 2018 season, while Hausman has mostly served as a special teams player in four years. Initially recruited by Kevin Sumlin, Morgan remained committed and signed with the Wildcats. He told the Star in April: "I'm 100% confident they can coach me and turn me into a man and a great player and get me to my goal, which is the NFL." Morgan's lengthy frame and athleticism coupled with Arizona's lack of scholarship cornerbacks could get him on the field sooner than later. - Arizona Republic

Not everyone is always on the same page in NFL Draft war rooms. On Friday, an uncomfortable exchange between Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman and senior scout Tom Donahoe was caught on camera following the selection of Louisiana Tech defensive lineman Milton Williams. Roseman fist-bumped everyone in the room, but Donahoe was hesitant. "When we were at pick 70, there were a couple of guys that we liked on the board," Roseman told the media Friday. "We moved back a little bit to see how it would go. A couple of guys that we liked went as well. "These guys spend all year scouting these guys. You get favorites, you get guys that you feel really strongly about. We all do. That's the fun part about being in the draft room is the emotions of it." Philadelphia traded down from No. 70 to No. 73 and chose Williams in the third round to close out the second day of the draft. - Monroe news star

The Vanderbilt football program is losing its leading rusher from last season. Running back Keyon Henry-Brooks has announced that he will enter the NCAA Transfer Portal. He is the second running back to transfer, joining Jamauri Wakefield, who entered the portal on Dec. 28, just two weeks after new coach Clark Lea was hired. Henry-Brooks will have two years of eligibility left, with the potential for a redshirt. Henry-Brooks played in six of Vanderbilt's nine games, starting in five of them, as a sophomore in 2020. He rushed 120 times for a team-high 494 yards and two touchdowns. He also tied for second on the team in receptions with 28, amassing 258 yards through the air. He was also one of only four Commodores to score multiple touchdowns, and he led the team in all-purpose yards per game with 125.3. - The Tennessean

Baylor's run game left much to be desired, ending 2020 ranked last in the Big 12 with just 813 rushing yards. With star running back Craig "Sqwirl" Williams expected to return from injury next season, will this group make a comeback in 2021? Williams was supposed to take 2020 by storm. The three-year veteran has battled injuries throughout his career and sat the 2019 season out. He returned as the Bears' leading rusher last season, but the campaign was cut short after he suffered a season-ending knee injury in October. While Williams is expected to make a healthy return, there's some concern on whether he'll be able to avoid the injury bug. - Dallas Morning News
